To be honest, recently it’s not really enjoyable in Seoul. It’s too cold, windy and the air quality is so bad 😔. How about escape to a warmer place? Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, etc. are quite close to Korea, aren’t they? Let’s consider Cebu, a tropical island of the Philippines.
Search for Cebu on the Internet and you will find a lot of amazing pictures with white sand beach, blue water, blue sky, tropical forest and much more. Since it’s a tropical island, it has a nice and pleasant weather during the winter time. The temperature stays at around 23 – 27°C with not too high humidity, even when it rains.
In order to enter Philippines, citizens of many countries don’t have to apply for a visa, if they stay for a short term (more here). Besides, most everyone in Philippines can speak English very well, since both Filipino and English are official languages of this country. Very convenient!
No matter what kind of vacation you’re planing, a low-budget or luxury, relaxing or full with adventures, you’ll find a lot of good options on Cebu.
If you depart from Seoul, many airlines offer a direct connection to Cebu. That means, you can reach it within only 4,5~5 hours.
What to do on Cebu?
Still wondering what you can do here? My Top 5 recommendations for you will follow.
5. Just relax…
Of course 😊! That’s how you enjoy this wonderful moment: white sand, clear ocean water, sunshine… Just lay down and enjoy it!
4. Discover Cebu with motor cycles
If you want to have more actions, rent a motor cycle from your hotel or a rental shop near by. Cebu is big enough (~4500km) and has a lot of beautiful signs waiting for you to discover.
3. Island hopping
Around Cebu, there are many other island, with different characters that you may want to visit, such as white sand bank, hills and mountains, river, cave, etc. Join a island hopping tour by boat to visit those amazing places.
2. Hiking & Canyoneering
Have you ever heard and tried Canyoneering? It was my first time to do it on Cebu. We hiked from the base to one of the waterfalls in Kawasan, then jumped into the water, then kept walking and swimming in the water until reaching the next waterfall then again… So much fun! 😆

1. Diving & Snorkeling
This is my absolutely most favourite thing to do: swimming and watching the amazing under water world.
From some resorts and hotels you don’t have to go far to be able to snorkel or dive. But you can always book a diving tour with guide, if you’re not familiar with this water area.

I’ve also noticed that rock climbing is possible on Cebu. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to go. Save it for next time 😍.
