As already mentioned in my post about “Get ready for Buddha’s birthday”, the Lotus Lantern Festival has already taken place during the last weekend.
Before it started, also in Jogyesa temple, one of the most important buddhistish temple in Korea, everyone was busy making and hänging the colorful lanterns. So beautiful…
Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time from Friday until Sunday morning. So the Lantern parade on Saturday was rained off. All participants had to wear raincoats and all lanterns were protected in transparent covers. The rain made the parade very unusual but still wonderful.
On Sunday, after the rain stopped, a lot of visitors again come to Cheonggyecheon stream to see the lantern exhibition, enjoy street food and buy some souvenirs from small booths beside the river.
You can find the complete collection here.
It’s a shame, but I didn’t make it to see the parade. Since it was raining the whole time, I gave up and went to restaurant with friends ?. Luckily, another friend of mine was there with his camera in the rain, that’s why I have some pictures to share now. Thanks to LM for the great pics!
Well… I promise… next year I’ll join the parade…
